Veteran Yoruba Actor Dagunro Dies after Battling Illness

A popular actor in the Yoruba section of the Nigerian movie industry, Mr Fasasi Olabankewin, otherwise known as Dagunro, has died.

Dagunro breathed his last in Lagos today after battling with an undisclosed illness, which has kept him away from the movie scenes for a while.

Confirming his death, Secretary of the Osun State chapter of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mr Ademola Adedokun, said the late veteran actor had been nursing the ailment for years.

According to him, efforts were made to assist the deceased get quality medical attention until the unfortunate happened.

However, he said the association will do everything within its powers to give the actor a befitting burial and work closely with the family to make this a reality.

Danguro acted in many films before his demise. He was well known for acting the role of a herbalist in movies, sometimes in superiority contest with another veteran actor, Fadeyi Oloro.
