Liverpool Striker Diogo Jota Dies in Fatal Car Crash

Liverpool and Portugal footballer, Diogo Jota, has died in a car crash in northwestern Spain at the age of 28, according to reports.

It was reported that he died alongside his younger brother, Andre, a 25-year-old, who plays for a Portuguese Second League club, Penafiel..

Diogo Jota played as a striker for Liverpool and was part of the recent Portugal team that won the UEFA Nation’s League in June.

The 28-year-old forward began his career in his native Portugal and played at Atletico Madrid in Spain before coming to England.

He joined the Merseyside club from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020.

Jota played an important role throughout his five years with the Reds, including scoring six times in Liverpool’s recent Premier League-winning season.

He also won the Carabao cup with the Liverpool team in 2024.

An avid video gamer, Jota also owned an eSports team and regularly streamed on Twitch.

He got married two weeks ago to hid long-term girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, with whom he has three children.

Condolences have began pouring in for the late footballer, who was well believed by the footballing community.
