King Kaka

From what was initially deemed as a fad in 2009, Bitcoin and digital currencies that followed thereafter currently experience massive growth in value and widespread acceptance in global finance. This adoption ranges from conglomerates down to influential and wealthy well-known figures, and where each of them comes from different industries. If Elon Musk is for tech, Mark Zuckerberg for social media, and Tom Brady for sports, then King Kaka is both for music and crypto gambling.

In early January 2022, African rapper King Kaka joined the crypto betting revolution by signing up as the global ambassador for crypto-based sports and esports betting leader, Sportsbet.io. Meet who he is, get to know about Sportsbet, and understand why their partnership is a huge move and a guaranteed success.

King Kaka as an artist

Before we dive into the very recent and innovative collaboration between Sportsbet and King Kaka, let’s get to meet the King first. Born on May 7, 1987, Kennedy Ombima is a Kenyan rapper, lecturer, and businessman better known by his stage names King Kaka and Rabbit. He founded and owns a number of organisations including the non-profit The King Kaka Foundation and the popular record label Kaka Empire.

King Kaka graduated from the KCA University with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy. After graduating, he became a lecturer at University of Zetech in Entrepreneurship, Mentorship, and the Music faculties but soon left that role to pursue music full-time.

Today, King is one of Kenya’s most popular rappers. Pulse Music Video Awards (PMVA) awarded him the two biggest awards in 2018: Male Video of the Year award and Viewer’s Choice of the Year.

Now, King Kaka has signed up in a partnership with Sportsbet.io — as well as their sister betting platform, Bitcasino.io — as their global ambassador. His influence will help the company’s brand build relationships and awareness in Africa.

So, prepare for an exhilarating casino gaming experience live you have never had before. Part of King Kaka’s many upcoming campaigns is all about delivering information on what it means to be a Sportsbet punter and player. These include admission to world-class entertainment that money can’t buy, such as executive box-level viewing of Premier League matches, special invites to the opulent Bombay Club, and exclusive time-limited promotions brought by him and the crypto premium casino.

It’s not only Sportsbet that will benefit from their partnership with King. On the other hand, the icon can gain more fans and expand his music to the regular punters and players of the site.

A fun, fast and fair casino gaming experience at Sportsbet.io

Join King Kaka as you delve into the high-quality and premium casino gaming experience at Sportsbet.io. Just like their sister company Bitcasino, Sportsbet is a leader in their respective field, which is certainly why King teamed up with them. Altogether, the partnership between Sportsbet and King Kaka is definitely one to look forward to today and in the years to come.

How Rugby Drives Business Opportunities in Africa

Published

on

Rugby Africa

Rugby is known for being physically tough, brutal, muddy, matchday Guinness sales, and living in football’s shadow. Yet across the continent, rugby is attracting private investment, corporate sponsorship and broadcasting deals at a pace that would have seemed unlikely a decade ago.

South Africa: The Commercial Benchmark

The SARU made rugby news in 2024 when they signed a landmark $375 million deal with US-based Ackerley Sports Group, consolidating sponsorship, broadcasting, content and match-day revenue into a single commercial entity.

In 2025, they reported commercial income surged 74%, drawing in FNB, MTN, Coca-Cola and Samsung, while merchandising receipts more than doubled in the most recent reporting cycle.

The Springbok brand and commercial model demonstrate what structured investment in rugby infrastructure can deliver. Other rugby unions are taking note.

Broadcasting and Sponsorship

Rugby Africa’s appointment of TV Media Sport to distribute continental broadcast rights through 2026 marked a turning point in the sport’s media commercialisation.

SuperSport, which carries rugby across South Africa, Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, drew 3.7 million viewers during AFCON 2024 alone, part of a continent-wide audience of 22.3 million, giving rugby sponsors meaningful access to one of Africa’s most powerful broadcast platforms.

Beyond the broadcasters, technology and finance companies are moving into the space: gaming brand SportPesa committed $650,000 to the Kenya Rugby Union in 2024, while Zimbabwean fintech Mukuru sponsors the national team’s World Cup qualification campaign.

These deals reflect a broader shift in which rugby is being used as a brand visibility vehicle in high-growth markets.

Nigeria: The Emerging Frontier

World Rugby has identified Nigeria as one of six nations experiencing strong rugby growth, and the commercial indicators are beginning to follow participation.

An estimated 200,000 children play the sport at school level, building a pipeline of future fans and consumers that brands and broadcasters are increasingly alert to.

With a population exceeding 220 million and a rapidly expanding middle class, Nigeria represents the kind of untapped consumer market that global sponsors and broadcasters are actively trying to reach. Rugby’s growing grassroots presence there makes it an increasingly credible vehicle for that ambition.

Looking Ahead

Rugby in Africa is transitioning from a participation story into a business one, with private equity circling and sponsorship diversifying beyond traditional markets. Now that an expanded Rugby World Cup is approaching in 2027- , the conditions for sustained commercial growth across the continent are more favourable than they have ever been.
