Manchester United returned to winning ways on Saturday when they defeated last season’s league champions, Leicester City 4-1.

England defender, Chris Smalling, put the Red Devils ahead in 22 minutes from a header, which easily went past the goalkeeper, Zieler.

Juan Mata made it two for United, who played in front of 75,256 spectators.

The Spaniard drove a fine half-volley from 15 yards into the Foxes’ net.

The Jose Mourinho’s men were not done yet as young England striker and last season’s sensation, Marcus Rashford, netted the third for the Old Trafford outfit, while the most expensive footballer in the world, Paul Pogba, scored the fourth and his first for Manchester United on his return to the club.

It was as if United were ready to pour all their anger of losing three consecutive matches on Leicester when the second half of the early kick-off game resumed.

But the record 20 league titles champions could not add more to the tally.

The visitors had to settle for Demarai Gray’s consolatory goal in the 59th minutes to end the match, officiated by Mr Mike Dean, 4-1 in favour of the host team.

Wayne Rooney was dropped by Mourinho as he watched his team play from the bench alongside Michael Carrick.
