Monday Inferno Won’t Affect Our Numbers—CWG

On Monday, September 23, 2019, a fire incident was reported at the Lekki, Lagos premises of ICT Solutions firm, Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) Plc.

The inferno caused some level of material loss to the company, but in a statement yesterday, the management of CWG assured stakeholders that the fire has been brought under control.

According to the statement, “On the morning of 23rd of September, 2019, a fire broke out within one of the premises of CWG Plc; located at Lekki Phase 1, around 10:30am. The building affected currently serves as a storage unit for the location; with few personnel operating there.

“Immediate action to contain the fire was undertaken, as staff in adjoining premises were safely evacuated. The eventual containment of the fire was achieved when officers of the Fire Service Units arrived at the scene, ensuring the confinement of same, to avoid damage to other surrounding structures.”

The company confirmed that, “There was some level of material loss with the building; thankfully, no injury or loss of lives were 8 recorded as a result of this incident, we do not at present anticipate any major material impact to our numbers.”

It stated that, “Whilst we wait on the official investigation to the cause of the fire, we wish to express our immense appreciation to our staff, neighbouring community and indeed the dedicated men of the Fire Service Stations for their swift intervention and assistance in quelling the situation. We appreciate everyone who reached out to us during the incident.”

Concluding, CWG said it remains “dedicated to safeguarding the health and safety of its employees in all the locations/countries we operate in and will ensure we maintain the highest standards of same in this regard.”
