Transcorp Hotels Appoints Two New Directors

The management of Transcorp Hotels Plc has announced the appointment of two new persons into its Board.

In a letter signed by the company’s Secretary, Mrs Helen Iwuchukwu, the company also said it accepted the resignation letter from Mr Omoniyi Fagbemi with effect from October 7, 2016.

He Fagbemi was a Non-executive Director at the company.

It was stated that at the meeting of the board of Transcorp Hotels Plc held on Friday, October 7, 2016, Mrs Saratu Umar was appointed as an Independent Non-executive Director of Transcorp Hotels Plc, effective from October 7, 2016.

Also, at the meeting, it was disclosed in the letter that Dr Bakari Wadinga as appointed a Non-executive Director of the company effective October 7, 2016.

Dr Wadinga is an Economist born in 1960 in Adamawa State. He started his working career in 1985 as an Auditor and Accountant trainee at Peat Marwick Ani Ogunde & Co now called KPMG Audit, Maiduguri office.

In 2000, he was the Chief Accountant in the Ministry of Defence in Abuja, while in 2005, he was the Head, Planning, Reporting and Statistics Department at the Federal Inland Revenue Service in Abuja.

On the other hand, Mrs Umar is a 1989 graduate of B.Sc. Economics from the prestigious Amadu Bello University Zaria.

She was appointed the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Office of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) on May 19, 2014, the first female to hold that position since its establishment in 1995.
