The government of Canada introduced the Express Entry system in January 2015 with the aim to expedite immigration process and increase immigration. Under the new process, eligible candidates are ranked through Comprehensive Ranking System.

As per the latest update, the Canadian government plans major changes in the Comprehensive Ranking System for 2017. The revised immigration policies will be more encouraging for aspiring immigrants and will considerably reduce the visa processing time.

The Canadian experienced class/temporary residents and aspiring immigrants with relatives in Canada are the two categories where changes are expected.

The annual immigration is expected to go up to 425,000 by 2020.

The cut off in Comprehensive Ranking System has gone down in the last two draws of Express Entry System. It resulted in a two fold increase in the number of candidates being sent the Invitation to Apply (ITAs), which is a very positive sign.

CRS cut off is expected to be lowered further by the Canadian government to achieve its new target. It definitely comes as welcome news for those who are still waiting for ITA.

In another update, the Quebec government is pruning up to welcome 51,000 new immigrants for the year 2017. This comes as a big relief for those who wish to immigrate to Quebec.

Economic immigration which comprises 59% of the new immigration is expected to be increased to 63%. The main programs in this category include Quebec Investor Program, the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) and the Quebec Economic Class (PEQ).

The changes will be in effect from New Year and promises to create a new job bank, wherein immigrants will be able to match available work with the skills they have before they arrive. Family reunification program by federal government will attract 11,500 new immigrants to Quebec from next year.

Regardless of how easy Canadian immigration programs may become, things will still be complex for visa applicant. You not only need to make sure that your visa application is complete, but is presented in a manner that you have high chances of approval.
