The Editor-in-Chief of a leading online news portal in Ghana, News Ghana, Mr Roger Agambire Agana, has emerged winner of an award in the ‘Forty under 40 Award’ held at the Kempiski Hotel in Accra recently.

Mr Agana was nominated in two categories; Journalism (Radio/TV/Print) and Media (Digital & Social).

Out of the two nominations and with stiff competition from other media personalities in the West African country, the Editor-In-Chief of News Ghana was adjudged winner of the Digital & Social Media category under the awards.

He beat competition from media gurus including Ms Anita Erskine of Anita Erskine Media; Mr Gilbert Asare Akoto of Salmamumin Empire; and Ms Bridget B. Agbenyor of Bridge TV.

Mr Agana began his career as a Technical Support Agent for Supra Telecom, an American based call centre for a year and went ahead to co-found Modern Ghana (www.modernghana.com), an online media portal in the country in 2005 as the News Editor and General Manager.

He left Modern Ghana in 2012 and joined Jogobu Company Limited, an Information Technology (IT) establishment as an Assistant Managing Director for half a year.

By dint of hard work, Mr Agana started his own media organization by establishing the popular SpyGhana (www.spyghana.com) in 2013 which was later re-named as News Ghana (www.NewsGhana.com.gh).

He has a number of engagements with several institutions either managing their communication departments or social and digital media platforms.

These institutions include Rigworld International Services Limited, an oil and gas service provider, Amnesty International (AI), DanDeVan Company Limited as well as the Institute and Financial and Economic Journalists.

He has also been interviewed by both local and international media including the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Media Ethics on topical global issues.

The Forty under 40 Award is to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the nations’ most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age forty from a wide range of industries we cover, who are committed to business growth, professional excellence and community service and have risen up the ranks of their companies or industries at a relatively young age as result of this.

The award organizers believe that in putting the spotlight on these young achievers it will not only celebrate them but also build a strong platform for them by giving a voice and opportunities to the next generation of industry pacesetters whiles building a positive attitude in our youth to strive for excellence at a tender age.
