Lalong tractors to farmers

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has once again reaffirmed his commitment towards reviving economy of the state great by repositioning it as a State of Peace and Tourism.

Mr Lalong, who has revived moribund industries like the Fertilizer Blending Plant in Bokkos, Panyam Fish farm in Mangu, Heartland Bottling Company in Barkin Ladi among others, yesterday put smiles once again on the faces of farmers in Plateau State.

In line with his five cardinal pillars, the Governor, few weeks after he inaugurated the distribution of fertilizers at government regulated prices to farmers, has distributed tractors to benefiting farmers in Jos the State, the state capital.

While addressing the joyous farmers, the Governor said, “I am confident that as citizens and partners in progress, the efforts of this administration will ensure a robust and sustainable scheme where more farmers will benefit”.

He further added that his government’s interventions especially in the agricultural sector is being celebrated and appreciated beyond the borders of Plateau and pledged his government’s commitment to ensuring the state reclaims its position as a major agrarian state the nation.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Samuel Badung from Barkin Ladi, who could not hide his joy, thanked and applauded the Governor for the timely and laudable gesture.

The tractors distributed to farmers and groups of beneficiaries of the 400 tractors earmarked under PPP arrangement for the state’s Tractorization Scheme is aimed at boosting food production with mechanized farming in fulfilment of government’s agricultural revolution program with economic diversification to agriculture as its mainstay.
