News just reaching Business Post from the upper chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja has it that Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been confirmed for another term of five years in office.
This followed his screening yesterday by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions.
At the plenary on Thursday morning, Chairman of the Committee, Mr Rafiu Ibrahim, presented his report to the Senate, which was thereafter adopted by the lawmakers and Mr Emefiele given the go-ahead to remain in office as the nation’s chief bank for the next five years.
Last Thursday, the upper parliament read the letter of nomination of Mr Emefiele for the position sent by President Muhammadu Buhari.
