NASD Securities Exchange Closes Flat Friday

After closing Thursday’s session in the positive territory, the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange ended flat for the final session of the week, with key barometers remaining at their previous levels.

As a result, the market capitalisation remained at N506.62 billion at the close of transactions on Friday closed, while the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) stayed at 689.69 points.

However, the volume of shares transacted at the session appreciated, with investors trading 72,861 units compared with the 20,300 stocks recorded the previous day. This indicated that the volume of shares exchanged by traders went up by 259 percent or 52,561 units.

On the other hand, the value of shares transacted at the alternative bourse on Friday fell by 80.4 percent or N1.78 million as securities worth N422,598 exchanged hands during the trading day in contrast to N2.2 million transacted at the previous session.

A total of four deals were executed by investors at the NASD OTC Exchange yesterday, the same number of deals executed at the Thursday’s session.

Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc; Afriland Plc; Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc; and Air Liquide Plc all recorded one deal each as the day’s trading wrapped. During the session, there were no price gainers or losers.

In terms of most traded securities by value (year-to-date), ARM Life still occupied the top spot on Friday, trading 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion. NDEP Plc was in second position with 6.4 million units transacted for N1.99 billion, while FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc was in third place with 1.9 million units traded at N240 million.

By volume (year-to-date), ARM Life Plc dominated the chart after trading 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion. It was followed by Food Concept Plc, which has transacted 110 million units worth N77 million, and CSCS Plc, which has transacted 17.3 million units for N199.7 million.
