NDIC to Pay Defunct Continental Merchant Bank Shareholders March 23

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has announced that it would start paying shareholders of the defunct Continental Merchant Bank Plc from Monday, March 23, 2020.

A notice from the agency on Thursday said only shareholders whose name appear on the register would be eligible for the liquidation dividends.

In the statement, the NDIC advised beneficiaries to file their proof of claim with the liquidator and get in touch with the agency’s representatives at 10 designated centres across the country.

“The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), the official liquidator of the defunct Continental Merchant Bank, has concluded arrangements to pay liquidation dividends to eligible shareholders of the bank with effect from March 23, 2020.

“Accordingly, all persons listed as shareholders in the register of the bank (in-liquidation) should file their proof of claim with the liquidator, as notice is hereby given that liquidation dividend is intended to be declared for eligible shareholders.

“For further clarification or any assistance, eligible shareholders should contact the representatives of Director, Claims Resolution Department in any of the under listed centres/zonal offices:

“Liquidation dividends will continue to be declared to shareholders as and when assets of the closed banks are realised by the corporation,” the disclosure signed by the Director of Claims Resolution Department at the NDIC stated.
