Last Thursday, telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria, showered some gifts to students of the University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka, Enugu State.

The company was in the institution to pay a courtesy visit to management, staff and students as part of efforts to support the country’s educational system.

The MTN Nigeria was led by the Chief Operating Officer, Mr Muhammad Zia Siddiqui; Human Resources Executive, Esther Akinnukawe; Customer Service Executive, Kunle Adebiyi; General Manager, Customer Experience, Kolawole Oyeyemi; Regional General Manager, East, Obinna Nweje and other executives of the brand.

The team first went to the office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba, to commend him for his leadership style.

Thereafter, the delegation moved to the Princess Alexandra Auditorium in UNN, where a packed hall awaited.

Before conversations officially began, several shouts of excitement could be heard across the hall as students reacted gleefully to receiving free airtime on their MTN lines. In addition to airtime, several other lucky guests were rewarded with gift items ranging from blenders to N5000 worth of Shoprite vouchers.

Mr Muhammad Zia Siddiqui eased his conversation into the crowd by joking about lions, cubs and other animals (the students are popularly referred to as lions and lionesses).

Soon the COO was dishing out life lessons and words of inspiration after which he entertained questions from the students.

Here are pictures from the visit.
