The ongoing reorganisation process at WeWork Canada and the United States will not affect WeWork South Africa, the management has confirmed.

In a statement made available to Business Post on Tuesday, it was emphasised that the South African firm is not part of the restructuring because it is 100 per cent independently owned by SiSebenza.

WeWork recently embarked on a strategic reorganisation process in the US and Canada as part of efforts to reposition the organisation for greater heights and efficiency.

This development sent shivers down the spines of stakeholders in South Africa, forcing the owners of WeWork South Africa, Andrew Robinson and Stefano Migliore, to clarify the status of the firm.

“WeWork South Africa is 100 per cent independently owned by SiSebenza, and operates independently from WeWork in the US and Canada,” the statement quoted the owners as saying.

“Importantly, as an independent entity, we are not part of this strategic reorganisation process and there will be no impact on our members, vendors, employees, and real estate partners,” they added.

“While our counterparts work to improve their business’ economics, position their community to grow, and enable their company to continue delivering best-in-class services to its members, our operations remain unchanged.

“We will continue to provide the service and experience our members have come to expect from us,” adds the local South African team whose focus is on expanding the WeWork brand into Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, and Nigeria, and growing its presence in South Africa.

WeWork South Africa said it is strong and committed to investing in its future growth and remains fully focused on delivering exceptional and innovative flexible workspace solutions for its members.
