3.214 billion Equities Worth N76.348bn Exchanged Hands in One Week

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited declined last week after the bourse operated for only four days because of the public holiday declared by the federal government on Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, for Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In the four-day trading week, 3.214 billion equities worth N76.348 billion exchanged hands in 64,156 deals versus the 3.794 billion equities valued at N119.394 billion traded in 89,636 deals a week earlier.

Data revealed that the financial services sector led the activity chart by volume with 2.313 billion shares sold for N52.241 billion in 27,326 deals, contributing 71.96 per cent and 68.43 per cent to the total trading volume and value, respectively.

The ICT industry followed with 301.996 million stocks worth N5.026 billion in 4,137 deals, and the consumer goods space traded 144.538 million equities valued at N5.632 billion in 8,093 deals.

Fidelity Bank, Legend Internet, and GTCO were the most active stocks, accounting for 1.545 billion units worth N34.446 billion in 4,939 deals, contributing 48.06 per cent and 45.12 per cent to the total trading volume and value apiece.

In the week, 53 stocks appreciated compared with 56 stocks of the preceding week, 43 equities depreciated versus 44 equities a week earlier, and 52 shares closed flat, in contrast to the 48 shares recorded in the previous week.

Oando topped the gainers’ log after rising by 25.77 per cent to N56.85, Lasaco Assurance gained 21.62 per cent to sell for N3.15, Multiverse grew by 20.39 per cent to N9.15, Cornerstone Insurance soared by 19.51 per cent to N3.92, and First HoldCo chalked up 17.60 per cent to close at N25.00.

Conversely, ABC Transport deflated by 18.64 per cent to N2.40, Julius Berger crumbled by 13.50 per cent to N118.50, Legend Internet was down by 13.31 per cent to N5.34, Livestock Feeds depreciated by 12.23 per cent to N8.25, and eTranzact slipped by 11.76 per cent to N6.00.

Business Post reports that the All-Share Index (ASI) and the market capitalisation appreciated on a week-on-week basis by 2.57 per cent to 114,616.75 points and N 72.275 trillion, respectively.

Also, all other indices finished higher apart from the ASeM index, which closed flat.
