The initial public offering (IPO) of Airtel Money, the mobile money subsidiary of Airtel Africa Plc, has commenced after the release of its prospectus on Thursday, October 1, 2026, with the exercise expected to close by 5 pm on October 8, 2026, and the offer results expected to be announced the next day.

Yesterday, the company announced the IPO price of the stock at £1.96, and in a notice obtained by Business Post on Friday, it was gathered that the minimum application for the exercise is £250 per investor.

The organisation is offering 270 million shares to retail investors during the IPO, and has made available an additional 27 million existing shares if the main offer is oversubscribed.

Airtel Money is selling its equities to retail investors resident and physically present in the United Kingdom via RetailBook, with no commission charged on applications to the Retail Offer.

The financial services firm has valued its business at £5.3 billion (approximately $7.0 billion) and plans to be admitted on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) on October 14, 2026.

It noted that investors can take part through RetailBook’s partner network of retail brokers, wealth managers and investment platforms, subject to their participation;

On Thursday, Airtel Africa said it intends to “remain a long-term strategic shareholder and to support Airtel Money’s next phase of development as an independently listed business,” as only 16.5 per cent of Airtel Money’s issued ordinary share capital will be held in public hands, as Airtel Money expects to have a free float that would make it eligible for inclusion in the FTSE UK indices.
