CSCS Sinks Unlisted Securities Exchange By 0.32%

Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc sank the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange by 0.32 per cent on Friday, September 1.

The downward trend in the stock price of the Nigerian securities depository company shrank the market capitalisation of the unlisted securities exchange by N3.55 billion to N1.109 trillion from the N1.112 trillion it quoted at the previous session.

In the same vein, the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) went down by 2.53 basis points to end the day at 791.22 points as against 7931 points it recorded at the previous session.

Yesterday, CSCS Plc lost 71 Kobo to sell at N17.19 per unit compared to N17.90 per unit it transacted in the preceding trading session.

As for the activity chart, the volume of securities traded at the bourse surged by 397.1 per cent to 2.7 million units from the 538,870 units traded a day earlier, the value of trades increased during the trading day by 1,059.8 per cent to N9.9 million from the N858,215 reported on Thursday, and the number of deals jumped by 70 per cent to 17 deals from the 10 deals achieved a day earlier.

The most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis remained CSCS Plc with a turnover of 1.1 billion units valued at N22.1 billion, UBN Property Plc was in second place with 914.1 million units valued at N906.4 million, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc stood in third place with 645.6 units worth N52.2 million.

Similarly, CSCS Plc closed the trading session as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 1.1 billion units worth N22.1 billion, VFD Group was in second position with the sale of 26.4 million units valued at N5.9 billion, and Aradel Holdings Plc was in third place with 5.7 million units worth N1.9 billion.
