The duo of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc and Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc stabbed the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange by 1.43 per cent on Wednesday, January 25, reducing the market capitalisation of the bourse by N13.40 billion to N920.67 billion from N934.07 billion it closed in the preceding session.
This also pulled the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) down by 10.19 points to wrap the session at 700.66 points compared with 710.85 points recorded in the previous session.
During the session, the price of FrieslandCampina went down by N5.22 to settle at N62.18 per unit, in contrast to the previous day’s N67.40 per unit, while CSCS Plc depreciated by 70 Kobo to sell at N12.50 per share compared with the preceding session’s N13.20 per share.
In the midst of the depressing outcome, the unlisted securities bourse also reported a worsening drop in the level of transactions as the trading volume and value declined at the close of business.
The volume of transacted stocks decreased by 99.5 per cent to 124,494 units from the 25.2 million units traded in the preceding session, and the value of shares traded went down by 82.8 per cent to N3.5 million from N20.4 million, while the number of deals recorded an improvement, as it grew by 257.1 per cent to 25 deals from seven deals on Tuesday.
Business Post reports that there was a price gainer at the midweek session, and it was Geo-Fluids Plc, which expanded by 7 Kobo to close at 91 Kobo per unit versus the 84 Kobo per unit it finished it closed a day earlier.
The single gainer finished the day as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 61.1 million units worth N49.2 million, UBN Property Plc stood in second place with 29.7 million units valued at N21.1 million, while NASD Plc was in third place with 944,112 units valued at N13.6 million.
VFD Group Plc maintained its summit position as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis, with 422,074 units sold for N103.0 million, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Group Plc was in second place with 863,933 units valued at N56.9 million, while Geo-Fluids Plc was in third place for trading 61.1 million units for N49.2 million.
