Food processing company, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc, posted a good performance on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Monday, July 20.
The market had closed the previous session in the negative territory, but a marginal growth of 0.03 per cent was enough to take the bourse out of the danger zone.
This was influenced by the rise in the share price of Friesland yesterday, which put life on both the market capitalisation and index.
FrieslandCampina Plc recorded a 15 kobo or 0.12 per cent gain on Monday to finish as the only gainer of the day’s trading session at N121.15 per share in contrast to N121 per unit it closed at the last session.
This spurred the market capitalisation to rise by N200 million to N519.08 billion from N518.93 billion it quoted last Friday.
Likewise, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went up by 0.15 points during the session to settle at 706.64 points as against 706.44 points recorded at the previous session.
There were 16 deals executed on five stocks during the session at the exchange compared to 11 of the preceding session.
These deals were from FrieslandCampina (10 deals), Afriland Properties Plc and Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc (two deals each), while Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc and VFD Group Plc registered (one deal each).
The total number of shares transacted by investors at the market on Monday reduced by 91.8 per cent to 61,480 units from 750,578 units at the previous session.
Following in the same pattern, the total value of shares transacted at the session fell by 95.7 per cent as N6.8 million worth of securities exchanged hands in contrast to the N157.5 million worth of stocks exchanged during Friday’s session.
On the volume of trades (year-to-date), ARM Life Plc topped the chart for trading 7.4 billion units worth N4.6 billion, while CSCS Plc followed with 198.1 million units valued at N2.6 billion, with Food Concepts Plc transacting 125 million units worth N88 million.
ARM Life Plc also led the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion. CSCS Plc was in second place with 198.1 million units traded at N2.6 billion, while NDEP Plc came third with 8.4 million units traded at N2.6 million.
