The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange wrapped the session on Thursday, January 14 in the positive territory as the unlisted securities market rose by 0.07 per cent.
During the session, the market capitalisation increased by N350 million to close at N532.02 billion in contrast to N531.67 billion it finished on Wednesday.
Equally, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) rose by 0.07 per cent or 0.49 points to end the day at 741.47 points as against 740.98 points it recorded at the previous session.
The bullish outcome came as FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc lifted the market spirits. The milk production company made a 36 kobo or 0.3 per cent price appreciation to end the day at N130.36 per share versus the previous N130 per share.
On the activity chart, there was a drop in both the volume and value of securities transacted by market participants at the trading session.
In terms of volume of securities traded at the bourse on Thursday, investors exchanged 35,000 units compared with the previous trading day’s 47,544 units of securities transacted by market participants on Wednesday, indicating 26.4 per cent decrease.
In the same vein, there was a drop in the value of shares traded yesterday as N4.6 million worth of shares, 7.2 per cent lower than the N4.9 million achieved a day before.
These trades came from nine deals executed on the day’s single gainer, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc. At the previous day, only two deals were carried out, representing 350 per cent growth.
UBN Properties Plc closed the session as the company with the highest traded shares by volume (year-to-date) with 1.6 million units of its shares worth N1.9 million. Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc was in second place with 196,650 units worth N68.9 million, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc held the third position with 72,994 units of its shares worth N9.7 million.
In terms of the most traded stock by value (year-to-date), NDEP still maintained the top spot for trading 1.6 million securities valued at N1.9 million. FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc came next with 72,994 units valued at N9.7 million, while VFD Group Plc traded 46,594 units valued at N4.9 million.
