Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has proposed to spend a total of N211.49 billion to run the state in the 2018 fiscal year.
This information was made known by the Governor when he presented the 2018 budget proposal to the Kastina State House of Assembly on Monday.
Addressing the lawmaker, Mr Masari disclosed that the educational sector, which is one of the six priority areas, was allocated 20 percent of the budget.
The Governor said the gains recorded in the sector in the 2017 fiscal year inspired his administration to further give priority to the sector.
Other priority areas in the 2018 budget, according to Mr Masari, are agriculture, water resources, roads, and health.
The Governor, who christened the 2018 appropriation bill as ‘Budget of Actualisation,’ informed the legislators that the proposal has three-quarters of the total budget allocated to capital spending.
Mr Masari further told the parliament on Monday that the proposal is N71 billion more than the 2017 budget.
