Airtel Money, the mobile money business of Airtel Africa Plc, has set the price of its initial public offering (IPO) at £1.96, with the prospectus to be published later today.

In a notice obtained by Business Post on Thursday, the company disclosed that about 270,000,000 existing Airtel Money shares would be offered to investors during the exercise.

Airtel Money is planning to trade the shares on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange (LSE), with admission currently expected to occur on October 14, 2026.

Airtel Africa, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services across 14 African markets, has valued its mobile money subsidiary at £5.3 billion (approximately $7.0 billion).

This newspaper learned that if the 270 million shares of Airtel Money are oversubscribed, Airtel Africa will make available an additional 27 million existing Airtel Money shares.

The parent firm, which is listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited, stressed that it intends to “remain a long-term strategic shareholder and to support Airtel Money’s next phase of development as an independently listed business,” as only 16.5 per cent of Airtel Money’s issued ordinary share capital will be held in public hands.

It was disclosed that Airtel Money expects it will have a free float that would make it eligible for inclusion in the FTSE UK indices.
