NASD Bourse Jumps by 0.22% as FrieslandCampina, Others Gain

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange returned to the positive zone on Tuesday, August 29 as it recorded a 0.22 per cent gain.

This improved the market capitalisation of the NASD bourse by N2.41 billion to close at N1.107 trillion, in contrast to the preceding day’s N1.105 trillion, as the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) went up by 1.72 points to end the day at 789.86 points versus Monday’s closing value of 788.14 points.

The growth recorded during the trading day was buoyed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, which gained N1.14 gain to close at N75.00 per share versus N73.86 per share.

Further, Acorn Petroleum Plc improved its value by 2 Kobo to settle at 31 Kobo per unit compared with 29 Kobo per unit, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc rose by 1 Kobo to trade at 15 Kobo per share, in contrast to the preceding day’s 14 Kobo per share.

There was a surge in the volume of securities traded at the bourse yesterday by 8,361.2 per cent to 495.9 million units from the 5.9 million units transacted by the market participants in the preceding session.

Equally, the value of shares traded yesterday rose by 1,364.9 per cent to N545.6 million from the N37.2 million achieved a day earlier, while the number of deals depreciated by 61.9 per cent to eight deals from the 21 deals reported in the previous trading day.

Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc remained the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 1.1 billion units valued at N22.1 billion, UBN Property Plc was in second place with 914.1 million units worth N906.4 million, and IGI Plc stood in third place with 645.0 units worth N52.1 million.

CSCS Plc ended the trading session as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 1.1 billion units worth N22.1 billion, VFD Group followed with 26.4 million units valued at N5.9 billion, and Aradel Holdings Plc was in third place with 5.7 million units valued at N1.9 billion.
