NASD Exchange Extends Rally by 1.46%

Another stellar performance from the FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc extended the rally at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange by 1.46 per cent on Wednesday, February 9.

Data from the NASD Exchange showed that the milk production company appreciated by 8.00 per cent or N10.00 to N135.00 per unit from N125.00 per unit.

However, there were two price losers and they were Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc and NASD Plc, with the former losing 9 kobo or 0.4 per cent to sell at N19.61 per share compared to N19.70 per share of the previous session and the latter depreciating by 5 kobo or 0.5 per cent to N9.36 per unit from N9.41 per unit.

At the close of transactions, the market capitalisation of the exchange increased by N9.29 billion to N643.75 billion from N634.46 billion, while the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) rose by 10.97 points to end the day at 760.23 points as against 749.26 points it recorded at the previous session.

At the session, the volume of securities traded by traders went down by 40.3 per cent to 778,799 units from the 1.3 million units transacted at the preceding session, while the value of shares traded declined by 89.6 per cent to N16.9 million from the previous day’s N161.6 million, with the number of deals rising by 530 per cent to 31 deals from the five deals carried out a day earlier.

At the midweek session, CSCS Plc retained its position as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 654.0 million units sold for N13.7 billion. NASD Plc came next with 3.5 million units valued at N54.3 million, while Food Concepts Plc came in third place with 2.0 million units worth N1.6 million.

CSCS Plc was also the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 654.0 million units worth N13.7 billion, followed by VFD Group Plc with 916,161 units worth N331.5 million and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc with 2.0 million units traded for N243.0 million.
