NASD Index Drops 0.19% Despite Surge in Turnover

There was a 0.19 per cent loss at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Tuesday, October 28, despite witnessing a significant surge in turnover.

According to data, the volume of securities traded at the session soared by 205,148.2 per cent to 1.9 billion units from the previous 928,306 units, the value of securities increased by 22,491.5 per cent to N5.4 billion from N23.9 million, and the number of deals rose by 86.7 per cent to 28 deals from 15 deals.

Infrastructure Credit Guarantee Company (InfraCredit) Plc took over the activity chart by volume and value at the close of transactions.

InfraCredit Plc ended the session as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 3.8 billion units valued at N10.8 billion, followed by Okitipupa Plc with 170.3 million units transacted for N7.9 billion, and Air Liquide Plc with 507.3 million units worth N4.2 billion.

Also, InfraCredit Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 3.8 billion units traded for N10.8 billion, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc went down to second position with 1.2 billion units sold for N419.6 million, and Impresit Bakolori Plc with 536.9 million units worth N524.8 million.

Yesterday, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc declined by N2.00 to close at N47.00 per unit versus the previous day’s N49.00 per unit.

The loss depleted the market capitalisation of the bourse by N4.23 billion to N2.175 trillion from N2.179 trillion, as the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) depreciated by 7.07 points to 3,636.34 points from 3,643.41 points.

Business Post reports that there were three price gainers at the close of trades, with NASD Plc up by N3.85 to end at N42.44 per share versus the previous day’s N38.59 per share, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc added N1.14 to settle at N53.00 per share versus N51.86 per share, and Geo-Fluids Plc increased by 39 Kobo to close at N4.38 per unit, in contrast to Monday’s price of N3.99 per unit.
