NASD Index Moves Up 0.25% as NDEP Gains N7

The share price of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc appreciated by N7 or 2.4 percent on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, trading at N300 per share in contrast to N293 it previously traded.

This helped the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange rise by 0.25 percent during the midweek trading session.

Consequently, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) moved up by 1.73 points to 692.71 points from 690.71 points on Tuesday, while the market capitalisation grew by N1.27 billion to N508.84 billion from N507.57 billion.

During the trading day, there was a rise in the total volume of securities traded by market participants by 152.3 percent as a total of 127,417 units were traded compared with 50,500 securities traded on Tuesday.

Equally, the total value of transactions increased by 2.3 percent to N15.1 million from N14.8 million, while the number of deals executed rose by one as three deals were executed compared to two deals of the previous day.

A breakdown indicated that FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc recorded two deals, while the day’s lone gainer, NDEP, recorded a single deal.

ARM Life Plc closed the session as the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) with 7.4 billion units of its shares sold for N4.6 billion, while Food Concept Plc was in second place after trading 110.0 million units valued at N77 million, with Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc in the third position for transacting 17.6 million units of its shares worth N203.8 million.

In terms of the most traded security by value (year-to-date), ARM Life Plc maintained its top spot at the close of transactions on Wednesday, trading 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion. The market gainer, NDEP Plc, followed with 6.5 million units of its securities exchanged for N2.03 billion, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc stood in third place with 2.2 million units of its securities valued at N267.3 million.
