The portfolios of investors at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange expanded by N3.38 billion in the second trading week of 2022, data obtained by Business Post showed.
This consequently increased the market capitalisation of the bourse to N635.10 billion from N631.72 billion it closed at the first trading week of the year.
In the same vein, the NASD Securities Index (NSI) appreciated by 0.53 per cent or 3.99 points to settle at 750.02 points compared with the preceding week’s 746.03 points.
In the week, the exchange posted three price gainers led by Nipco Plc, which grew by 9.5 per cent to trade at N69.00 per share compared with N63.00 per share of the earlier week.
In addition, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc gained 4.9 per cent to trade at N20.00 per unit in contrast to N19.05 per unit it ended a week earlier, while Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc gained 1.1 per cent to close at N238.00 per share as against it previous week’s value of N235.00 per share.
It was observed that two securities depreciated in value in the outgone week, with 11 Plc losing 3.3 per cent to finish at N208.00 per unit in contrast to N215.00 per unit of the preceding week, while Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria Plc lost 0.4 per cent to trade at N118.00 per share versus the previous N118.43 per share.
A look at the activity chart showed that there was a 1,272.9 per cent increase in the total value of transactions, closing at N32.9 million compared with N2.4 million in the previous week.
Also, the volume of trades increased in the week by 1,756.3 per cent to 1.1 million units from 56,947 units, while the number of deals rose by 233.3 per cent to 50 deals from 15 deals.
At the close of the week, CSCS Plc was the most traded security by value with N19.2 million. NDEP Plc traded N6.7 million, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc exchanged N3.5 million, 11 Plc traded N2.1 million. while Nipco Plc recorded N1.4 million.
In the same vein, CSCS Plc was the most active stock in the week by value with the sale of 962,015 units, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc recorded 29,865 units, NDEP Plc traded 28,289 units, Nipco Plc posted 22,000, while 11 Plc transacted 9,872 units.
In the year so far, NASD Security Index returns have increased by 0.97 per cent while NASD investors have traded 1.1 million securities worth N35.4 million in 65 deals.
