The midweek trading session at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed flat with the two major market indicators staying at their previous levels.
However, the volume of shares transacted by investors, the value of the trades as well as the number of deals executed during the session moved in different directions.
Business Post reports that the market capitalisation ended yesterday at N499.24 billion, the same amount it settled on Tuesday, while the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) also remained unchanged at 694.89 points.
However, the volume of securities transacted on Wednesday went down by 41.2 percent or 315,828 units to 450,024 units from 765,852 units quoted a day earlier.
In the same vein, the total value of the trades depreciated by 73 percent or N76.7 million during the day to N28.3 million from N104.97 million achieved on Tuesday.
But the number of deals executed by traders at the midweek session increased by 162.50 percent or 13 deals as a total of 21 deals occurred compared with the eight deals of the previous day.
The most active stock by volume from the beginning of this year to yesterday was Food Concept Plc as the company has sold 1,158,949,954 units of its shares valued at N844.1 million at the exchange. It was closely trailed by UBN Properties, which has transacted 941,320,697 units worth N1.27 billion.
But when viewed in terms of value (year-to-date), Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc topped the chart with 202,272,698 units worth N2.53 billion, while UBN Properties followed with 884,529,600 units of its stocks exchanged for N1.2 billion.
