NASD OTC Market Closes Flat in Week 9

The key performance indicators of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed flat in the 9th trading week of 2022 as the market capitalisation remained unchanged at N618.66 billion, while the NASD Securities Index (NSI) stayed intact at 730.61 points.

Business Post reports that despite the stalemate, the market recorded two price gainers and three price losers led by AG Mortgage Bank Plc, which dropped 10.35 per cent to trade at 58 kobo per unit versus the previous week’s 52 kobo per unit.

In addition, NASD Plc lost 7.8 per cent to settle at N8.31 per share in contrast to the previous week’s N9.01 per share, while Niger Delta Exploration & Production (NDEP) Plc declined by 2.9 per cent to close at N200.00 per share compared with N206.10 per share it finished a week earlier.

However, Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc topped the gainers’ chart with a price appreciation of 1.2 per cent to settle at N18.41 per share in contrast to the previous N18.20 per share, while FrieslandCampina grew by 0.7 per cent to close at N123.00 per unit versus N122.15 per unit it ended a week earlier.

Last week, there was a 74.8 per cent decrease in the total value of transactions to N45.3 million from N179.6 million, while the total volume of trades increased by 90.9 per cent to 33.9 million stocks from 17.8 million stocks, with the number of deals declining by 45.7 per cent to 38 trades from 70 trades of week 8.

At the close of the week, AG Mortgage Bank Plc was the most traded security by volume with 31.9 million units, Food Concepts Plc traded 1.0 million units, CSCS Plc exchanged 505,350 units, NASD Plc traded 369,500 units while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc sold 55,000 units.

In terms of the value of trades in the week, AG Mortgage Bank Plc also topped with N16.7 million, CSCS Plc recorded N9.2 million, NDEP Plc traded N8.8 million, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc posted N6.7 million, while NASD Plc sold N3.1 million.

In the year so far, NASD Security Index returns have decreased by 1.65 per cent while the total volume traded stands 720.5 million units in 419 deals and the total value traded is N14.7 billion.
