NASD OTC Market Size Grows to N523.34bn

The size of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange grew to N523.34 billion on Thursday, July 16 following the 0.08 per cent reported at the session.

At the previous session, the unlisted securities market had closed at N522.93 billion but after Thursday’s trading, it expanded by N410 million.

Data from the exchange showed that the benchmark index of the market, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI), increased yesterday by 0.56 points to 712.45 points from 711.89 points.

On the activity chart, things were positive as the trading volume rose by 351.1 per cent to 1.3 million units from 291,387 units of securities traded on Wednesday.

These transactions came from the 12 deals executed during the session at the exchange belonging to FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc – five deals; Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc, four deals; VFD Group Plc, two deals; and Lighthouse Financial Services Plc with one.

At the previous day, the OTC market carried out the same number of deals.

Business Post reports that all the value of securities traded on Thursday amounted to N14.6 million, higher than the N5.6 million realised at the previous session by 159.6 per cent.

The trading day ended with a single advancer and no decliner.

FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc saw its share rise by 42 kobo or 0.35 per cent to N122.11 per share from N121.69 per share of the previous day.

ARM Life Plc closed the session as the company with the highest volume of traded shares (year-to-date) with 7.4 billion units worth N4.6 billion. CSCS Plc was in second place with 197.8 million units worth N2.6 billion, while Food Concept Plc held the third position with 125 million units of its shares worth N88 million.

Also, ARM Life Plc closed as the most active stock by value (year-to-date) with 7.4 billion units of securities traded for N4.6 billion, while CSCS Plc followed with 197.8 million units exchanged for N2.6 billion, with Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc in third place with 7.9 million units of its securities valued at N2.4 billion.
