The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed the final session of the 2023 trading year in flat territory on Friday, December 29.

Business Post reports that the stalemate happened as there was no price gainer or loser, leaving the market capitalisation of the NASD securities exchange intact at N1.257 trillion while the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) remained unchanged at 927.47 points.

The market was very scanty yesterday as traders preferred to stay away from the exchange as they did a last-minute review of the trading year, checking what they did wrong or right in preparation for the next trading year.

As a result, the volume of shares bought and sold by investors significantly went down by 99.9 per cent to 1,700 units from the 5.5 million units transacted in the previous trading session.

Similarly, the value of securities transacted by the market participants decreased broadly by 99.5 per cent to N96,190 from the N20.1 million recorded in the previous session.

In the same vein, the total number of deals carried out by investors went down by 77.8 per cent to four transactions from the 15 deals executed in the preceding market day.

When the bourse finished for the day, UBN Property Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 1.7 billion units valued at N2.2 billion, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc was in second place with 1.2 billion units valued at N22.4 billion, and Geo-Fluids Plc stood in third place with 839.1 units valued at N1.7 billion.

Also, CSCS Plc maintained its spot as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 1.2 billion units valued at N22.4 billion, VFD Group kept its second position with the sale of 26.6 million units worth N5.9 billion, and Aradel Holdings Plc was in third place with 7.8 million units valued at N3.2 billion.
