Purple Real Estate Sinks NASD Index by 0.51%

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange slid by 0.51 per cent on Thursday, June 27, 2024, after Purple Real Estate Plc and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc closed in the red territory.

The market capitalisation of the bourse went down by 10.87 billion during the session to settle at N2.099 trillion from the N2.110 trillion recorded in the previous trading session.

Following the same trend, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went down by 7.93 points to wrap the trading session at 1,532.10 points compared with 1,540.03 points recorded in the previous session.

Purple Real Estate Plc lost 52 Kobo yesterday to sell at N4.68 per share versus the midweek’s N5.20 per share, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc depreciated by N4.47 to trade at N46.16 per unit, in contrast to Wednesday’s closing price of N50.63 per unit.

Trading data showed a surge in the volume of shares traded yesterday by 23,287.6 per cent as investors transacted 33.1 million securities versus the 141,578 securities traded a day earlier.

Equally, there was a rise in the value of securities traded at the session by 29.8 per cent to N277.0 million from the N213.4 million traded in the preceding session, and the number of deals remained unchanged at 43 deals.

Closing as the most traded equity by value on a year-to-date basis on Thursday was Aradel Holdings Plc, which has transacted 6.3 million units valued at N16.9 billion, followed by Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc with a turnover of 101.5 million units for N2.5 billion, and Capital Hotels Plc with the sale of 259.6 million units worth N1.3 billion.

The most active stock by volume on a year-to-date basis was Capital Hotels Plc with a turnover of 259.6 million units valued at N1.3 billion, trailed by Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with the sale of 218.8 million units valued at N46.1 million, and Mixta Real Estate Plc with a turnover of 139.8 million units worth N240.1 million.
