Unlisted Securities Market Grows 0.39% in Week 14

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange extended its run in the green territory for another week after the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) recorded a week-on-week growth of 0.39 per cent or 4.19 points in Week 14 to settle at 1,085.16 points, in contrast to 1,080.97 points it ended in Week 13.

The value of the unlisted securities market, which witnessed the admission of Capital Hotels Plc to the platform last Friday, increased to N1.490 trillion compared to Week 13’s value of N1.470 trillion.

Business Post reports that six stocks recorded price movements in the four-day trading week, with two on the gainers’ side and four on the losers’ group.

Afriland Properties Plc fortified its share price by 9.1 per cent to finish at N9.60 per unit versus N8.80 per unit, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc gained 4.4 per cent to quote at N70.00 per share compared with the preceding week’s N67.07 per share.

On the other hand, Aradel Holdings Plc lost 7.1 per cent to close at N2,000.00 per share versus the previous closing value of N2,152.88 per share, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc fell by 5.2 per cent to N22.00 per unit from N23.20 per unit, Acorn Petroleum Plc depreciated by 4.2 per cent to N1.15 per unit from N1.20 per unit, and UBN Property Plc dropped 1.6 per cent to end at N1.80 per share compared with the previous week’s N1.83 per share.

The total value of shares traded during the week fell by 81.9 per cent to N237.5 million from N1.3 billion in the previous week, as the volume of securities traded slumped by 97.8 per cent to 870,000 units from 39.0 million units, with the number of deals going down by 15 per cent to 55 deals from the 68 deals recorded a week earlier.

CSCS Plc was the most traded stock by volume last week with 392,000 units, Aradel Holdings Plc traded 101,000 units, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc exchanged 100,000 units, FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc transacted 99,000 units, and Acorn Petroleum Plc traded 70,000 units.

But Aradel Holdings was the most traded stock by value in the week with N221.4 million, CSCS Plc followed with N8.6 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc posted N6.7 million, Afriland Properties Plc recorded N0.35 million, and 11 Plc recorded N0.22 million.
