Unlisted Stock Investors Lose N120m After Marginal Slide

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange recorded a marginal 0.01 per cent loss on Tuesday, February 28 as unlisted stock investors saw their portfolios shrink by N120 million at the close of transactions.

This weakened the market capitalisation of the alternative bourse to N939.90 billion from the preceding session’s value of N940.02 billion.

Consequently, the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) went down by 0.09 points to end the day at 715.29 points as against the 715.38 points it recorded in the previous session.

At the market yesterday, there was a fall in the volume of securities traded by investors by 88.8 per cent to 565,247 units from the 5.1 million units transacted a day earlier.

However, the value of shares traded during the trading day skyrocketed by 204.5 per cent, as investors traded unlisted shares worth N18.8 million versus the N6.2 million worth of securities reported on Monday.

Also, the number of deals completed at the session increased by 300 per cent to 12 deals from the three deals executed in the previous session.

On Tuesday, the market breadth was positive as two gainers emerged against one decliner.

Afriland Properties Plc appreciated by 17 Kobo to close at N1.89 per unit versus Monday’s value of N1.17 per unit, as FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc rose by 5 Kobo to N68.05 per share versus N68.00 per share, while Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc lost 9 Kobo to end at N13.50 per unit versus N13.59 per unit.

At the close of trades, Geo-Fluids Plc remained the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 334.8 million units valued at N343.7 million, UBN Property Plc stood in second place with 294.0 units worth N247.8 million, while VFD Group Plc was in third place with 7.2 million units valued at N1.6 billion.

Conversely, VFD Group Plc was the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with 7.2 million units valued at N1.6 billion, Geo-Fluids Plc was second with 344.8 million units worth N343.7 million, while UBN Property Plc was third with 294.0 million valued at N247.8 million.
