Ambode Pledges Quality Education for all Children

All children, especially the ones in the primary schools, both public and private, have been assured of an enhanced environment ideal for learning in order to achieve academic and emotional development.

This pledge was made by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, who reiterated his administration’s commitment to making basic education accessible to children in a convenient environment to enhance cognitive development irrespective of their social status.

Mr Ambode, while commissioning the newly rehabilitated blocks of classrooms, toilets, offices and stores at L.G Primary School, Noforija, Epe and Home Economics Centre, St. Theresa Primary School, Epe Lagos, through his Special Adviser, Office of Overseas Affairs & Investment (Lagos Global) Professor Ademola Abass, noted that, “Children are the future of any nation and so we cannot afford to neglect our responsibility of ensuring that basic infrastructural provisions are made available to stimulate their interest in learning and to enhance their innate potentials.”

He said further that, “Irrespective of the social status of children, it is an absolute responsibility of any government to ensure that children’s basic education is well established and sustained. Uneducated children of today will, in turn, become the unproductive youth of tomorrow, bringing much trouble to the society.”

The Governor disclosed further that Lagos State was committed to ensuring even spread of infrastructural development across the six divisions so that all Lagosians can benefit from it.

While imploring the pupils and staff of the two schools to put the facilities to good use as well as ensure adequate maintenance, Mr Abass enjoined all Lagosians to abide by their civic responsibility of regular tax payment in order to enable government embark on more infrastructural development in the state.
