The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso I, has been commended for sustaining the virtues of Yoruba ancestors and strongly advocating cultural and religious tolerance amongst his people.
The member of the House of Representatives representing Oluyole Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Ms Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, praised the monarch on his 93rd birthday.
The Chairman House Committee of Diaspora, in her message to the king, said she was highly impressed with the rulership style of the nonagenarian.
“We appreciate your rulership,” the lawmaker said in a statement issued by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Olamilekan Olusada, congratulating him as he celebrates God’s grace in his life.
Ms Akande-Sadipe, while extolling the many virtues of the royal father, stated that, “No doubt, Kabiyesi has consistently ensured progress in Ibadan, whilst also strongly advocating cultural and religious tolerance amongst his people.”
She prayed that almighty Allah grants the Olubadan good health and long life as he continues to lead the people of Ibadanland, saying in local parlance, “Ade a pe lori, bata a pe lese.”
