A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has mocked candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Dino Melaye, in the Kogi West Senatorial rerun election held last weekend.
At the exercise, candidate of the APC, Mr Smart Adeyemi, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Mr Eze, in a statement, congratulated Mr Adeyemi for retiring his former party mate, Mr Melaye, saying this will enable the Senator to formally join his friend, Senator Abe and his other colleagues that allegedly conspired to sabotage the election of President Muhammadu Buhari and APC in most of the states of the federation during the 2019 general elections.
The APC chieftain said he recalled how he worked with Mr Melaye and others to form the ruling party, which was the country’s main opposition party prior to the 2015 polls.
Mr Eze said he felt disappointed that this group betrayed the essence why the party was formed, saying these Senators were members of the nPDP who later joined and won elections under the platform of the APC.
He expressed sadness that such highly placed leaders could not read in between the lines as to know that the era of politics of deceit has been consigned to the dustbin of history.
Mr Eze further stated that it was pitiful that these leaders exaggerated their relevance in the politics of Nigeria by committing a political suicide that has retired them prematurely from the politics of Nigeria, making them irrelevant in their various constituencies.
