A former Governor of Kaduna State, Mr Balarabe Musa, has died.

Mr Musa, who governed the old Kaduna State from 1979 until he was impeached in 1981, was said to have died on Wednesday morning in Kaduna.

Before his demise, the deceased contributed to many national issues and he was respected for this views on trending matters of national importance.

The 84-year old conservative politician was a leader of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), a coalition of opposition parties, in the present fourth republic.

He is a strong believer of electoral reforms aimed to transform the process of electing public officials and about 10 years ago, he expressed doubts that the recommendations of the Uwais committee, such as removing state electoral commissions and having all elections run by the Independent National Electoral Commission, would not be implemented.

Eight years later, Mr Musa announced his exit from active politics, though because of health issues. He thereafter announced his immediate resignation from the chairmanship of People’s Redemption Party.
