President Muhammadu Buhari will on Friday depart the shores of Nigeria to London, the United Kingdom, for medicals.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, disclosed that the trip is specifically for a medical follow-up.
Some days ago, Mr Buhari travelled to Paris, France, for a summit and he used the occasion to see his doctors. He may have been advised during the trip to Paris to visit the UK for further medical attention.
In the statement issued on Thursday, Mr Adesina did not make reference to the Paris trip but he said his boss will be in London for at least two weeks.
“President Muhammadu Buhari will proceed to London, the United Kingdom on Friday, June 25, 2021, for a scheduled medical follow-up.
“He is due back in the country during the second week of July 2021,” the short statement read.
This is not the first time President Buhari is travelling to London for medical care. Since he assumed office in 2015, he has made such trips.
In 2017, he spent more than three months in the UK for medical treatment for an undisclosed health challenge, causing tension back home over his fitness for the nation’s number one job.
He travelled to London in May 2017 and returned in August after first going to the UK in January of the same year and spent almost two months.
