Nigeria has recorded 10 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 224 as 11:15am on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

This followed the announcement of six additional persons testing positive for the virus in Lagos, two in Abuja and another two in Edo State.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which made this announcement this morning, stated that so far, five deaths have been recorded in the country, while 27 people, who once had the COVID-19, have recovered and subsequently discharged.

“Ten new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 6 in Lagos, 2 in FCT and 2 in Edo.

“As at 11:15 am 5th April there are 224 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Twenty-seven have been discharged with five deaths,” the agency disclosed.

A breakdown of the state by state cases showed that Lagos still topped the table with 115 confirmed cases, while Abuja trailed with 45 cases.

The NCDC also said Osun has 20 people testing positive for the virus, while Oyo and Edo States have reported nine confirmed cases since the first case was reported in Nigeria on February 27, 2020.
