Nigeria Records 8 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Hits 232

Eight new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Nigeria, bringing the total of people to have tested negative for the virus in the country to 232.

The latest announcement was made by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday night. Earlier in the day, 10 fresh cases were reported in the country, bringing the total number of new coronavirus cases recorded on Sunday, April 5, 2020 to 18.

In the fresh cases declared this night, the NCDC said five were from Lagos, two in the FCT Abuja and one in Kaduna State.

“Eight new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 5 in Lagos, 2 in the FCT and 1 in Kaduna State.

“As at 09:30 pm 5th April there are 232 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Thirty-three have been discharged with five deaths,” the agency disclosed.

An analysis of the state by state cases indicated that Lagos now has 120 cases, followed by Abuja with 47 and Osun with 20 cases.

Oyo and Edo States have recorded nine cases each, Bauchi has had six, while Akwa Ibom and Kaduna States have reported five cases each.

Four cases have been reported in Ogun State, two each have been found in Enugu and Ekiti States, while Rivers, Benue and Ondo States have recorded one case each.

36 States, FCT Suffer 1.93% Decline in Total IGR in 2020

By Dipo Olowookere The 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja suffered a 1.93 per cent decline in the total internally general revenue (IGR) in 2020. This information was contained in a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Friday, which was analysed by Business Post.
