The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been restrained from contracting the services of the chairman of the Lagos Parks and Garages, Mr Musliu Akinsanya, otherwise known as MC Oluomo, for transporting election materials in the 2023 general elections.

The electoral umpire had said it would engage MC Oluomo for election logistics because the transporter has control over commercial drivers in the state.

But other political parties partaking in the February 25 presidential and federal parliamentary polls and the March 11 governorship and state parliamentary elections kicked against this, noting that the transporter belongs to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that he would use his influence to the advantage of his party.

This insistence of INEC that it would use the group for the exercise forced the Labour Party (LP) to file a suit at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, seeking an order stopping INEC from engaging MC Oluomo for the polls.

On Monday, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke granted the prayers of the opposition political party and restrained the electoral body from using the transporter for distributing election materials in the state.

“I am happy to announce that this morning, We successfully acquired an injunction barring INEC Lagos State from dealing in any way shape or form with MC Oluomo or any of his associated agencies.

“I am grateful to God almighty and my legal team, and to the people of Lagos,” the governorship candidate of LP in Lagos, Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, said.
