Nigerian youths have been encouraged to be innovative and involved in critical thinking to drive sustainable economic development.
This advice was given by the Managing Director of Trucks Transit Parks (TTP) Limited, Mr Jama Onwubuariri, at the unveiling of the University of Lagos (UNILAG)-Employment Clinic: Education to Employment Transition Programme (EETP) themed Blue Career Insights.
The UNILAG-Employment Clinic, EETP, is designed to provide students with the skills and insights needed to navigate the transition from university to employment effectively.
At the event held at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall of the institution, Mr Onwubuariri emphasised that his company prioritises innovation and critical thinking.
He noted that to enable the education-to-employment transition, students need to identify their passion, minimize distractions, identify socio-economic problems around them and research their solutions, be team players, stand on the right principles and avoid destructive habits.
Mr Onwubuariri used the occasion to highlight the success of the organisation’s Ètò call-up system, a pioneering technology that has revolutionised logistics and transport management at Apapa and Tincan ports.
“TTP is committed to fostering an environment where education meets practical application.
“Our participation in this significant event reflects our dedication to empowering students with the tools and knowledge necessary for success in the modern workforce.
“At TTP, we believe in the power of innovation and critical thinking to drive sustainable economic development.
“The Ètò system is a prime example of how innovative thinking can address critical challenges and create new opportunities, and we are honoured for the opportunity to share our experiences and insights with the future leaders in attendance,” Mr Onwubuariri stated.
The programme featured guests like the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola; the Vice Chancellor of UNILAG, Prof Folasade Ogunsola; the chief executive of Maritime Innovation Hub, Ms Ronke Kosoko; and other heads of industries who shared their perspectives on the importance of collaborative efforts in preparing students for the workforce.
