Residents of Kwara State have been urged by the state government to remain call following the recent clashes between herdsmen and farmers.
In a statement issued by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Isiaka Sola Gold, the government said it was worried by the unfortunate incidents.
Mr Gold stressed that the government was giving the needed support to the Kwara State Police Command and other security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of the acts of violence with a view to bringing them to justice.
It however called on all parties aggrieved on account of the recent or previous clashes to remain calm, refrain from taking the law into their hands and allow the security agencies to conclude their investigations.
“The Kwara State government remains strongly committed to protecting lives and property in line with the constitution and the rule of law and will therefore not hesitate to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone or group found to have instigated or taken part in any acts of violence,” Mr Gold said.
While further calling for calm, Mr Gold appealed to “all citizens and residents to go about their lawful activities without fear as it remains resolute in the task of maintaining law and order.”
