Chairman of Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Ayotunde Phillips, has embarked on the tour of the Commission’s offices in the various Local Government Councils to confirm available report on the state of the offices for the electoral officers of the Commission.
Speaking during an inspection tour to three councils in the Badagry area of the state, Justime Phillips said the commission had to embark on the on-the-spot assessment tour of its offices because of its desire to make the offices conducive for officers before the next local government elections in the state.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mr Olumide Lawal, stressed the need to make the offices of the Electoral Officers of the Commission at the Local Government Councils conducive to enable them perform their duties optimally.
He urged the authorities of the various councils to cooperate with the Commission in its drive to bring about positive changes to the offices of the Electoral Officers.
On the entourage of the Chairman were the six Commissioners, Directors and Heads of Department of the Commission.
The on-the-spot assessment tour of the offices of Electoral Officers in the various Councils of the State by the Chairman is an ongoing exercise.
