President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that the current rising state of insecurity in the country would soon become a thing of the past.

Mr Buhari gave this assurance in a statement issued on Saturday by one of his media aides, Mr Garba Shehu, while reacting to the killing and adoption of some persons in Zamfara and Kaduna States.

Mr Shehu, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said these new methods and policies being deployed by the security agencies are yielding good results in many of the troubled parts of the country.

He said the President condemned the repeated killings and abductions by bandits in the two northern states, urging the nation’s military to respond to the worrying situation in a language the terrorists understand.

The statement further said Mr Buhari has called for a crushing response to the killing of innocent citizens in the rural communities, stressing the nation, its military and the entire population need to summon the courage required to defeat the bandits and terrorists.

“President Buhari condemns some politicians making utterances on security, merely seeking applause, advising them to join the ongoing genuine efforts aimed at finding lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the nation.

“He expresses the nation’s sorrow over the loss of lives, urging security agencies to do everything possible to prevent the recurrence of attacks with impunity,” Mr Shehu said in the statement.
