National Peace Committee Seeks More Support For Govt.

The National Peace Committee has urged Nigerians to give maximum support to government at all levels.

Chairman of the committee and former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar (Rtd) stated this in an interview with Journalists, after paying a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said that he is hopedul that the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration will find solution to the threat to peace in some parts of the country.

“I hope the current administration; through the assistance of all Nigerians will give a helping hand to make sure that we overcome these crises that are unnecessary,” The Peace Committee Chairman stated.

General Abubakar (Rtd) who said the peace being enjoyed in the country must be sustained, to guarantee stability and development added that the committee was working closely with relevant stakeholders, to ensure that peace continues to reign in all parts of the country.

He said it was for this reason that the committee will not relent in its effort to promote lasting peace in all parts of the country.

“We are still working, although quietly, we are working hard to make sure that there is peace in the country and to see that all the political parties in the country work amicably because each one of them has got a role to play,” he said.

Giving reasons for the visit to President Buhari, The Peace Committee Chairman said: “I have come to discuss issues of national interest as well as international affairs, which are interwoven.

The National Peace Committee under General Abubakar, it could be recalled, played a vital role before, during and after the 2015 general elections, paving the way for a peaceful election and a smooth transition from former President Goodluck Jonathan to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oil Prices Fall Amid Expected Rise in US Supplies

Government Seals Kaduna Electric over N464.1m Tax

Nigeria Changes Fixed-Lines Numbering Format

Nigeria Rakes N193.59bn from Solid Minerals in 2021
