The latest information from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has it that as at 11:55 pm on Friday, March 27, 2020, the total number of infected persons in the country has skyrocketed to 81.

This followed the report of 11 new cases comprising eight in Lagos, two in Enugu and one in Edo State.

According to the NCDC, so far, only one death has been recorded in Nigeria, while three persons have recovered from the global disease, which originated from China in December 2019 and presently has no cure.

In a breakdown given by the agency, currently, Lagos has the highest number of cases in the country, 52, followed by Abuja with 14 cases.

It further said Ogun has three, same as Oyo State, while Edo, Bauchi and Enugu have two cases each. Ekiti, Osun and Rivers States have one case each.

The first case of coronavirus was recorded in Nigeria on February 27, 2020, when an Italian visited Ogun and Lagos States for a business transaction. He was quickly taken into an isolation centre in Lagos and has since recovered and discharged.
