Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has disclosed that his administration will establish ranches and grazing areas to enable youths in the state become active in cattle rearing.

The Governor disclosed this when the Independent Campaign Group (ICG) of the All Progressive Congress (APC)) led by Mr Bola Ilori paid a solidarity visit to him.

He stated that the state government would provide support for private investors to build feeding-lots for cow rearing and also support youths interested in the business.

According to him, efforts are being made to reactivate the Auga-Akoko cattle ranch, expressing optimism that this would address the incessant clashes between farmers and herders in the state.

Mr Akeredolu assured that the state government will continue to protect the lives and properties of residents.

Speaking on the insecurity in the Southwest, he said it is a big challenge that needs to be tackled in the favour of the people.

The Governor said the lives of everyone remains important and that all the necessary steps would be taken to protect them.

In his remarks, the leader of the visiting group commended the Governor for the way he has tackled the insecurity issue in his state and the entire southwest region.

According to Mr Ilori, the action of the Governor portrayed him as a leader who cares about the welfare of his people.

He, however, urged Mr Akeredolu to provide lasting solution to the issue of farmer/herders clash in the state by reactivating the existing ranches in the state.
