President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday forwarded his supplementary ministerial list containing 19 nominees to the Senate for screening and approval.
More ex-governors made it to the list, which was submitted during plenary today by his Chief of Staff and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila.
The list read by the Senate President, Mr Godswill Akpabio, contained former Governors of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, Mr Simon Lalong of Plateau, Mr Bello Matawalle of Zamfara, and Mr Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi.
Others were Mr Abdullahi Gwarzo, Mr Bosun Tijani, Mrs Maryam Shetty, Mr Isiak Salako, Mr Tunji Alausa,r Yusuf Sununu, Mr Ibrahim Geidam, Mrs Lola John, Mr Shuaibu Audu, Mr Tahir Mamman, Mr Aliyu Abdullahi, Mr Alkali Saidu, Mr Heineken Lokpobori, Mr Maigari Ahmadu and Mr Zaphaniah Jisalo.
Business Post reports that last Thursday, to beat the 60-day deadline, Mr Gbajabiamila submitted the first list with 28 nominees to the red chamber.
Already, the Senate has screened the 28 nominees in the first batch, which included the former Governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike and former Governor of Kaduna State, Mr Nasir El-Rufai.
With the additional 19 sent to the Senate today, Mr Tinubu hopes to work with 47 Ministers, five more than the 42 appointed by his predecessor, Mr Muhammadu Buhari.
On Wednesday, the red chamber screened Mr Dele Alake, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, Mr Muhammad Idris, Dr Ali Pate and Mrs Doris Uzoka.
The Senate on Tuesday screened ex-governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna) and Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); Wale Edun, Uche Nnaji, Stella Okotete, Adebayo Adelabu, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Hannatu Musawa, and Musa Dangiwa.
The upper chamber on Monday screened former governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike; Mr Abubakar Kyari from Borno State; Mrs Nkiruka Onyejeocha (Abia State); Mr Bello Muhammad (Sokoto State); Mr Sani Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State); and Mr Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa State).
Others were Mr Joseph Utsev (Benue State), Mr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo (Ondo State), Mrs Betta Edu (Cross River State), Mrs Uju Kennedy Ohaneye (Anambra State), Mr Abubakar Momoh (Edo State), Mr John Enoh (Cross River State), Mr Iman Suleiman Ibrahim (Nasarawa State), and Mr Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (Bauchi State).
